Winamp is gone!: For those readers that have no clue as to what I am speaking of when I mention our first tech obituary, that of Winamp, let me explain. Winamp is a media viewing tool. Created by Justin Frankel in 1997, it was bought by AOL in 1999. According to the Winamp website, the program will not be available past December 20, 2013.
Just spying on Americans without their explicit permission, nothing much: Last issue, I said I would research the NSA's spying program. Actually, interestingly enough, some new news broke a short while ago in the shocking scandal. According to the Guardian, "US and UK struck secret deal to allow NSA to 'unmask' Briton's personal data".
Further into this article, they say that the British foreign minister from 2005 (Jack Straw) and the one in 2007 (Margaret Beckett) both declined to comment.
This marks this issue of Techtronix News. I'll be covering in the next issue, the history of computer worms, and of course, any news that breaks in the tech world.
Until next time,
Jack

A New Poll
I have started a poll on the bottom of the home page. The question is one that has been asked by several gamers and tech junkies alike. "AMD or Nvidia?"

Let's Talk Nvidia: I would be surprised if you, the reader (yes, you!)do not know of GPU chipset giant Nvidia. Yesterday, at the SC13 conference (a supercomputer conference), Nvidia announced their brand new Tesla K40 GPU.This new GPU has an astounding 2888 cores and 6 Gigabytes of memory (Hot Hardware). This event also was the announcement of their (Nvidia's) new partnership with IBM.

How about those bitcoins?: As I said in yesterday's issue (Link is here!), I would look into the P2P internet currency known as bitcoins. Today, however, there was a US Senate hearing on bitcoins. I quote Senator Tom Carper (D-DE) "Virtual currencies, perhaps most notably Bitcoin, have captured the imagination of some, struck fear among others, and have confused the heck out of many of us." So what exactly is a bitcoin? According to Bitcoin.org,(Link Here!), Bitcoin is "Open-source; it's design is public, nobody owns or controls Bitcoin and everyone can take part." I think that sums it up pretty well.
Again, Techtronix News is topical, so there is a set amount of topics we will cover per night. Tomorrow night, I'll cover the latest hot tech news, and look into the NSA's spying program, and of course, any news that breaks in the realm of tech.

News from the world of Gaming: Sony's new gaming console, the PlayStation 4, has sold over one million units, according to USA Today. "Sony's PlayStation 4 is off to a hot start,"says Mike Snider of USA Today. The console, however, has not been released in Europe, Latin America, or Japan (the first two will be released on November 29th, the last on February 22 of next year.)
Let's talk Google: According to VentureBeat Business, Google has payed $17 million for ignoring user privacy settings in Apple's signature Internet Browser. This is not the first time that Google has had to pay up for privacy violations. Last year, Google dished up 22 and a half million dollars to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission).
Next Issue, I'll look further into the internet P2P currency, the bitcoin, further into the PS4, and of course, any other news that arises.
Until then,
Jack
